The 6th Oil&Gas Reservoir Characterization and AI Application Conference

The 6th Oil&Gas Reservoir Characterization and AI Application Conference was successfully held in Chongqing China from September 27th to 30th.The Conference is jointly hosted by the China University of Geosciences and GPT Software.


Nearly a hundred first-line oil and gas E&P practitioners from PetroChina, Sinopec, CNOOC and Yanchang Petroleum, scholars and experts who are deeply engaged in the field of reservoir characterization in the oil and gas industry attended the meeting. Extensive exchange of new progress, new results, and new ideas on cross-field integration of oil and gas reservoir characterization research and AI technology have been achieved.


Many industry experts introduced the latest achievements in intelligent applications for exploration and development. Professor Jiang Shu from China University of Geosciences gave a report entitled “Research on Artificial Intelligence-Based High Permeability Channels and Seepage Barriers”. Mr. Zhao Gaishan, deputy dean of Sinopec Nanjing Institute of Geophysical Technology and a senior engineer, gave a report on “Research Progress and Prospects of Intelligent Application of Oil and Gas Exploration and Development”. Ms. Wang Yanan, an expert from Shengli Oilfield Geophysical Prospecting Institute, gave a report on “Fine Reservoir Description and Preliminary Exploration in Dense Well Pattern Area”.


More than 10 representatives from PetroChina, Sinopec, CNOOC and Yanchang Petroleum made reports on application examples of GPT series software in oilfield research and production. Among them, Daqing Oilfield, one of GPT’s Enterprise Users, cannot come on site due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but shared three excellent reports through online streaming, which was praised by other attendees in the conference.


At the end of the meeting, Mr. Yuan Ganghui, the general manager of GPT Software, said: All experts and friends here today shall witness GPT become a world-class industrial software leader in the near future.
